Tools for clearer decisions
Make the numbers
make sense.
Explore repayments and a simple refinance comparison, including upfront switching costs. Then bring your income story and questions to a lending conversation.
01 / Repayments
What could the repayments look like?
Change the example inputs to explore a principal-and-interest loan at a constant annual rate. The interest rate is entered by you; it is not a So Money quote.
Enter a loan amount from $1,000 to $20 million, a rate from 0% to 40%, and a term from 1 to 40 years.
What does this answer? It shows the mathematics of a loan with your entered rate and term. It does not assess your income, documents, affordability, product eligibility or approval.
02 / Refinance
Look beyond one rate.
Switching costs and a longer term can change the answer. Enter the rates and terms you want to compare; the example rates are not So Money product rates.
—
Check the amounts, rates, terms and costs entered. Rates must be 0–40% and terms 1–40 years.
Read the result carefully. A smaller monthly payment can come from extending the term. Compare total interest and fees, and confirm the actual costs of switching before deciding.
03 / Self-employed preparation
Bring your income story together.
Tick what you already have and use the list to prepare a conversation. The acceptable evidence and combination depend on the selected product and current credit policy.
Select the information you have. You can discuss missing items and alternative evidence with a broker.
Read the self-employed document guide
This checklist is not an eligibility test. Nothing entered here is sent to So Money or stored by this page.
A starting point for better questions
Repayment figures use standard principal-and-interest amortisation. Actual lenders can calculate interest, fees and repayment dates differently. A rate shown here is entered by you and is not a So Money offer.
For a refinance, confirm both loan terms and every switching charge. If you are self-employed, the income evidence used in an application must be checked against the current product policy; an online calculator cannot determine borrowing capacity or approval.
